We get underneath the problem before we get on with the work.

Evolve helps organisations make better decisions about markets, customers and growth. We combine rigorous strategic market thinking with first-hand business experience, so we can listen hard, recognise what is explicit and implied, and challenge the starting point when the evidence says the issue sits somewhere else.

That matters because a well-executed answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer.

We are senior, independent and practical. You know your organisation. We bring the external perspective, commercial challenge and strategic tools to help you work out what happens next.

Growth requires attention before the revenue arrives.

Most organisations quite reasonably focus most of their energy on the customers, offers and markets generating revenue today. But future revenue rarely appears on demand. New markets, propositions, customer groups and capabilities take time to build. The longer the time to value, the earlier the strategic thinking has to begin.

The Planning Gap helps make that tension visible: where current performance is actually taking the organisation versus where it wants to get to.

Sometimes the gap is obvious. Sometimes it is masked by a growing category, strong volume, a mature offer that is still generating cash, or an organisation working extremely hard. Evolve helps surface the real trajectory and decide where attention, investment and action need to shift.

Keeping today's business healthy and creating tomorrow's business are both essential. They seldom need the same strategies.

The brief is the starting point.

Clients usually come to Evolve with a question they want help answering. We take that question seriously, but we also test the evidence, assumptions and context before deciding what work will create most value.

Across our work, the presenting issue and the underlying growth constraint are often not identical. A marketing question may expose a positioning or customer-insight issue. A growth ambition may reveal an operating or leadership constraint. A portfolio question may ultimately be about evidence, prioritisation or investment.

That is why we diagnose before we prescribe. Independent challenge is not about disagreeing for the sake of it; it is about making sure time, money and attention are being applied to the problem that will actually make the difference.

Listen first. Think in models.

Because the theoretical foundations are already embedded in how we think, the conversation does not start with a framework. It starts with listening.

As we listen, we look for patterns, contradictions, assumptions, missing evidence, market signals and the difference between a symptom and its cause. Models and frameworks help us structure what we hear, test assumptions and expose the choices that matter.

We apply life-cycle, portfolio, segmentation, proposition and other strategic thinking across products, services, categories, markets, portfolios and - where useful - whole businesses. The models are tools for thinking, not templates that every client has to fit.

ENABLE ACTION

We confer, discuss and work through the implications with you. The decisions remain yours; our role is to improve the evidence, challenge the thinking and help make action more likely to be customer-led and commercially sound.

Cross-sector experience helps us understand unfamiliar market dynamics quickly without importing the assumptions or conventions of one sector into another.

Strategic decisions are hard because certainty arrives late.

Strategy would be easy if you could wait until every fact was known. In practice, the decision often has to come first.

For senior marketing leaders

You may be asking a board to commit investment using evidence, forecasts and market signals rather than certainty - while current performance still demands attention and the return on a new direction may take time to show.

For business owners

You may reach a point where what got the business here will not necessarily get you to the next stage. The next choices can require more structure, more delegation and investment before the result is visible.

For leadership teams

You may need to protect current revenues while investing in new markets, offers or capabilities whose value will not be immediate. That creates real tension around priorities, resources and risk.

What Evolve adds: We do not remove uncertainty. We help make it explicit, improve the evidence, structure the choices, test the assumptions and make the decision more defensible.

Practitioners as well as consultants.

Strategic choices eventually have to survive contact with a real organisation. Evolve combines rigorous strategic market thinking with first-hand experience of running, growing and changing businesses, launching products, developing markets, working through turnaround situations and supporting teams through implementation.

That experience has taught us that successful strategy is about more than having a good plan. We take the time to understand where your organisation is today, what is shaping performance and what needs to change to get you where you want to go. That may involve developing the skills and capabilities of your people, but it can also mean looking at structure, processes, resources and priorities. Our approach is practical, commercially focused and designed to turn strategic choices into measurable results.

Senior expertise stays in the room.

The people you engage are the people doing the listening, analysis, challenge and facilitation. Evolve does not separate senior thinking from the work itself.

That makes the engagement direct and adaptable. When the evidence changes the question, the people with the experience to recognise it are already in the room and can respond.

Capability, not dependency.

Evolve works collaboratively because solutions need to be owned by the people who will deliver them. The aim is not to leave behind a clever answer that only the consultant understands.

We also do not assume every capability problem is a training problem. Often people already have the skills, but process, structure, resources or planning practices prevent them applying those skills effectively. Where learning is the right intervention, we build it around real organisational challenges.

The outcome: a better decision now - and stronger thinking, processes and capability for the decisions that come next.

Experienced enough to simplify. Independent enough to challenge.

Evolve has worked across global businesses, public-sector organisations, established SMEs, marketing and product teams, leadership groups and growth programmes. What connects those engagements is not sector or scale, but the need to understand markets and customers, make stronger strategic choices and improve commercial performance.

“Strategic super sleuths - they have a knack for taking loads of information and cutting through it to come up with that one light bulb thing that can make a massive difference.”
